Ophir RFC is looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing Youth Coach to help build their future, one high-energy session at a time.

​This isn't just a standard coaching gig - it’s an opportunity to be the spark that gets a young person hooked on the game for life.

​The Quick Facts
​

• Pay: £15 / hour
• ​Hours: 5+ hours per week at a minimum
• ​Schedule: 2 afternoons + 1 evening (School term time)
• ​Location: North Belfast, Newtownabbey, and Ulster University’s Jordanstown campus

​Where & What You’ll Be Doing

​As an Ophir Youth Coach, your week will be varied, active, and highly rewarding:

​School Sessions: You’ll spend two afternoons a week bringing rugby directly into the backyards of partner schools across North Belfast and Newtownabbey.

​Club Sessions: One evening a week, you'll head to the excellent grounds of Ulster University’s Jordanstown campus for Ophir Youth Training.

​Building a Legacy: You will design fun, structured, one-hour sessions tailored for predominantly U12 groups. Your mission? Recruit, engage, and build Ophir’s brand-new U12 squad (boys or girls) from the ground up.

​Blitzes & Camps: Extra hours will be available for tournament days and holiday rugby camps - perfect for boosting your hours while maximizing your impact.

​Safety First: You'll ensure all activities fully comply with the IRFU Child Safeguarding Policy, keeping safety at the heart of everything you do.

​Who Ophir is Looking For
​You don’t necessarily need a lifetime of coaching badges to apply

​The Essentials:

​An enthusiastic, outgoing personality with a gift for engaging young people.

​Excellent organisational and communication skills (to chat with players, parents, and club officials alike).

​A proactive, flexible approach to changing schedules and personal development.

​A commitment to inclusivity and creating a positive environment.

​A full driving licence.

​Nice to Haves:
​Previous participation in rugby or coaching experience.

​An IRFU Coaching Qualification at Stage 1 or Stage 2 (don't worry if you don't have this yet - Ophir will support you to get it if needed).

​You will report directly to the Director of Rugby and Youth Section Convenor, giving you a strong support network as you grow in the role.
