On Tuesday 19th August, our Ophir/Malone/Larne youth girls had the fantastic opportunity to take on the visiting Calgary Irish RFC from Canada at Ulster University, Jordanstown.
It was more than just a game of rugby – it was a brilliant afternoon of sport, friendship and fun. Both teams gave it their all on the pitch, with plenty of skill, teamwork and determination on show. The Canadian girls brought great energy and a strong physical game, while our local side matched them with some excellent team spirit and resilience.
The atmosphere on the sidelines was just as special, with families and supporters cheering every play and celebrating the occasion. After the final whistle, both teams came together to share laughs and stories, making memories that will last long after the score is forgotten.
Events like this remind us how powerful rugby can be in bringing people together, whether they’re from Belfast, Larne, Malone or Calgary.
A big thank you to Adam Smith, Joe McCallister and Lucy Taylor for making it happen.
