Saturday 3rd October was a special day for Ophir youth rugby, with players representing the club at every youth level. Our U14, U16 and U18 teams all took to the pitch, reflecting the enthusiasm, commitment and continued growth of youth rugby at Ophir.
U14s Rugby: Ophir / Civil Service / Malone 20–29 Academy
The U14s welcomed Academy in an entertaining and competitive fixture. The combined Ophir, Civil Service and Malone side showed excellent effort, determination and teamwork, competing right up to the final whistle. They narrowly missed out on the win and can take plenty of encouragement from their performance.
U16s Rugby: Ophir / Ards 5–45 Ballymoney / Limavady
The U16s faced a strong Ballymoney/Limavady side in a challenging fixture. Despite the scoreline, the players worked tirelessly from start to finish and showed great commitment. Every match provides valuable experience, and the squad will keep building, learning and developing as the season progresses.
U18s Rugby: Ophir / Newry Take the Points as Friendly Goes Ahead

The U18 fixture between Ophir / Newry and Ballyclare / Larne was affected by player numbers, with Ballyclare/Larne unable to field a full team. Rather than cancel, both groups agreed to play a friendly, so everyone got valuable game time. Ophir / Newry were awarded the points.
It was a brilliant example of the positive spirit of youth rugby, with players, coaches and clubs working together so that everyone had the chance to enjoy their rugby.
