On 14th October the Ophir lads travelled to Ballynahinch for their 1st cup fixture of the season. Ophir fielded a strong team with the return of James Milligan back from injury, along with Karl Davis and Anthony Davis to bolster the backline.
The first half showed the same Ophir from the last few weeks with missed chances and missed tackles. Pretty soon the Ballynahinch side started putting their own passes together and going over the try line, this put the Ophir lads closer to exiting the cup at this early stage.
The second half seen the Ophir lads spring into life, just as they did 2 weeks previous against Ballyclare. The pressure starting building as Alan Davison made breaks throughout the game, and James Milligan making big hits and even bigger turnovers. With all their patience and pressure, the scores finally came for the Ophir lads with Ben Lowry, Karl Davis and Ricky Burns all scoring, to make a last ditch attempt to dump Ballynahinch out of the cup.
This was not to be with 4 points separating the sides and Ophir in control, it was a missed lineout that allowed the backtracking Hinch, side time to clear the line and claim the win.
