After a three week break, Ophir 1XV returned to rugby with a tough away fixture, an early kick off vs Lisburn.
The team broke the recent trend of starting games poorly, kicking into the wind and putting pressure on the home side.
The game was tight from the off, with Ophir having plenty of possession. However, the opening score went to Lisburn, as they broke down a stern Ophir defence and eventually crossed the line. Ophir hit back well, leveling the game at half time with a try of their own.
The young Ophir side had the greater share of the ball in the second half and utilised the strong wind coming behind them well. The Ophs ended up scoring 4 well deserved tries for their efforts whilst failing to make a conversion. Despite this, the home side were well versed and made it count when they had posession also scoring four tries of their own.
In the end kicks made the difference for the Lisburn side, kicking three of their four conversions with the game finishing 26-20 to the home team. After this harsh result on a much improved Ophs side the team now look forward to their away trip to Donegal in the Forster Plate.
