On what turned out to be a great day for our first home game of the season, the Ophs were raring to go!
Ophir started well keeping Randalstown pinned down in their 22 from the beginning and were able to secure a turnover which eventually led to Calum Crease running it in as the Town players looked to switch off. Unfortunately for the remainder of the first half Ophir weren't able to capitalise further on this as we played selfish rugby instead of smart heads up play. Randalstown returned with two unconverted tries this half.
After what turned out to be a close fought first half, the Ophs took it up a gear. At the beginning of the half on two occasions captain Liam Cosgrave found himself with open space and was able to make darting runs around the Town players and score himself a brace. Following this Randalstown were able to bring it back by a try but by this point the floodgates had opened. Ophir's next try came from the team playing heads-up, free-flowing rugby which gave James Bryan a gap to run through and score under the posts. Not long after this, the Ophs had a lineout in our own 22 and decided to take it quickly seeing space on the far wing, off this winger Joe McCartan made a great darting run being stopped just short of the line with debutant Ryan Davison dotting down moments later. Finally, to see out the game Liam Cosgrave bagged his hat-trick as the pitch had completely opened up towards the end of the game.
