Fresh off the back of our first win of the season, Ophir traveled to CIYMS looking for another.
The Ophir men were unfortunately slow out of the blocks and couldn't handle the initial sustained pressure from the home team eventually letting in some tries. For the remainder of the half, the ophs looked strong with ball in hand but couldn't make the most of chances when they presented themselves, on the other hand the CI players were very clinical on the counter attack.
In the second half Ophir flew out of the blocks and had 20 minutes of great play. First after a build up of pressure in the CIYMS 22 a simple switch of direction was all that was needed to generate space on the wing for Conor Cole to score our first try of the game. Following this, captain Liam Cosgrave read the CIYMS attack well and intercepted a pass - unfortunately he was stopped short of the line but the great support of the Ophir players led to quick ball for Ciaran McWilliams to score our second try. Finally, shortly after Ciaran's try, Ryan Caughey ran a hard line in the midfield and with none of the CIYMS players able to bring him down he was able to score under the posts to make the game exciting.
Unfortunately, the Ophir men didn't have it in them to continue this strong play toward the end of the match with CIYMS once again clinically capitalising on this with some more scores.
